Spotlight – Raul

Secondary Survivor

We are firm believers in the power of stories–the power they have to form connections and positively impact the lives of those around us. In the summer of 2015, we collaborated with a business class at a local community┬ácollege to come up with a marketing plan. As part of this process, we introduced ourselves to the class and shared our personal experiences as survivors of sexual abuse. Inspired by our stories, Raul, a student enrolled in the course, wrote a song that captured the essence of survivorsARE, which in turn inspired us. Though a supporter and not himself a survivor, Raul was able to create a song that truly speaks to our experience. By writing this song, Raul showed that it is possible as survivors and supporters to come together in understanding and work toward a common goal.

We are excited to be able to finally share this project with you! We are also thrilled to announce that we are now officially a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. That means any donations to our organization are tax deductible.
